It’s That Time Again!!

Our Semi-Annual Bison Delivery

We ARE coming, and we are ready to take orders!!!!!  Our Southern California delivery is November 18 – 20th.  We have more animals than ever available for this trip so we are excited about that.  Our butcher has already started processing and we are in great shape at this point.  We already have hanging weights and can start assigning animals to your orders.  So get your order in and get first pick!
Totally Raw Honey!!
The response to our honey has been amazing. Over the past year, because of some great questions from all of you and the responses from our honey growers, we have learned some very interesting things. We wanted to share it with all of you because it is great information to have.  Here are some of the things they have said –

“As you know, we take pride in handling our honey as little as possible – raw honey is filled with health benefits that processed honey is not.  The less “processing” honey receives, the quicker it crystallizes, underling its rawness – those 12# buckets are hardly touched by us in the process of packing honey, so they’ll become “harder” faster.  Putting them in the oven on its lowest setting for an hour or two, or in a hot water double bath, or better yet, just out in the sun, will liquefy them safely without compromising their “rawness.”   The reason the 5#s stay softer for longer is that they go through our bottler, so that honey is handled a
little bit more than the 12#s are.  When the 5#s crystallize, they can be softened in the same methods as the 12#s, though I would keep a closer eye on them, as those bottles are obviously not as substantial as the buckets, and are going to let more heat in.   Please let us know if you have further questions – people are very curious about raw honey these days, and there are a myriad different “definitions/standards” of it on the internet. It is important to keep in mind that the bees naturally want to keep the honey at close to 100 degrees in their hives, and that of course it gets even hotter in there on warm days – some people seem to think that any heat applied is bad for the honey, but that is not true – it is excessive heat applied for long periods of time that negates honey’s amazing qualities (i.e. big honey packers cranking up the heat to 200 degrees etc), not the small time beekeeper’s minimal handling necessary to transfer honey from comb to bottle!”

Our honey is the best that we’ve ever tasted and we know that many of you agree, because you’ve told us. We will continue providing honey to Southern California each time we deliver.

Our Commitment To You

We are committed to bringing you an excellent product – free range, grass fed, grass finished bison raised without the use of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals – at the best price that we can.  We are committed to what we do, how we do it and the final product we produce for your family.  We are committed to our animals and the land on which they graze.  We are committed to humane practices and sustainability.  We are committed to quality and integrity – in both product and service.

Glorious Summertime

It has been a great summer.  Lots of work got accomplished.  Above, we see Elisha taking her turn on the Farmall doing some early evening harrowing as the sun sets over the eastern front of the rocky mountains,  Wes and I have completely rebuilt one section of the South Iron gate pasture fence that has been much needed for some time now.  There have been multiple trips to the park for some of our best hikes to date.  Time spent on the lake with family and friends.  Really packing it in like we always do in summer.  I also wanted to let you know that gate cutting will be coming up soon and I hope to get out some news and pictures of that this year.  Gate cutting with bison is a very delicate thing and I would like to explain the process this time just so you all get a better feel of what it takes to care for these animals.  They are magnificent creatures and I enjoy sharing that experience with you.  With that said, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions you may have in regards to the herd.  I look forward to sharing more about the Dunhams and Glacier Grown when we see all of you again in November!
Many Blessings,
 Brad

Social Networking Added

Glacier Grown is now available on the social networks!  As we mentioned above, we would like to get more information out to you about the happenings of the ranch and the raising of your animals.  So we decided to build a Glacier Grown Facebook page and  a twitter account.  Ideally, we want you to feel like you are involved (remotely) in the joy we experience as we provide the best product we can for your famlies.
Please check us out at any of these locations and subscribe so you can get the latest news and pictures from the ranch!

We will be adding a shopping cart/customer self service portal to the web site soon and my hope is to have that up within a couple of weeks.  So with that said, we will need to get detailed information from you again and hopefully this will be the last time as it will be in a true database now.  This should make the whole process much more efficient for everyone involved and has been much needed as we continue to see the business grow.

Thank you for your continued support!!
Many Blessings,
The Dunham Family

We are currently working on setting up an email subscription program, so that you can sign up for updates on our website.

Spring 2010

We are coming to San Diego for a marketing/spring delivery June 12th-13th.   The Bison run will be small as our efforts are really being concentrated on marketing.  We are expecting to make our biggest fall run ever.  We are gearing up for that NOW.  More on that later!

I really just wanted to get some pictures out of some recent ranch happenings and say hello.  Also, be looking for a newsletter update in the next week or so.  We have been doing some research on the bison industry as a whole and have found information that again encourages us to keep doing what we set out to do originally and stay the course;  providing  all natural, grass fed, grass finished, free range bison,  with no compromises.

Here are some pictures of a recent young mens retreat we had last month at the ranch.  We had some bad weather, but nobody seem to care.  That’s the way it is on the eastern front.  You never really know what the weather will do!

Enjoy the pictures!  See you soon.   http://picasaweb.google.com/glaciergrown

SITE CHANGES

We have changed the HOW TO ORDER tab on the web site.  It now gives you two options… Whole/Half animal pricing, as well as, Individual Cuts pricing.  This should make it easier, especially for first time visitors, to get to the information they need.  As always, if there is something that you can not find, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Look forward to seeing you all soon!

Brad

The New Look!

Thank you Nick Maltby of BlaineMountainTechnologies for the new web site.  Please give us a shout if you would like to contact Nick about your blog or web site.   We are sure he can help you out, at a reasonable price I might add!   We hope you enjoy the cleaner look and content.  We have reduced a vast amount of information from the old site into a cleaner much more condensed version.  If there is something you can’t find, just drop us an email and we will be more than happy to provide it for you.

Looking forward to seeing all of you soon on the Fall 2009 co-op day.

Many Blessings,

The Dunham Family

Testimonials

Hi Karen, I just wanted to let you know how much our family is enjoying your bison. We've had wonderful t-bone steaks, burgers and stew, and the meat was much better tasting than beef. I've had buffalo before but it didn't taste as good as yours. Please keep us in mind for your next delivery to the San Diego area. Regards, Carolyn N.
